New Zealand Customs and Biosecurity

This is one topic that i probably read every relevant (and irrelevant) websites on the internet before flying. Of course i'm not gonna bring anything illegal or out of the ordinary but as kiasi Singaporeans who definitely don't want to get into trouble with officials in another country, i googled like mad. The reason why i had to google so much is because NZ (if you don't already know), has a very strict biosecurity check in order to protect their environment and economy. Food, especially fresh fruits and vegetables are a BIG NO NO in NZ. But apart from that, medication is also apparently something of concern. Also, equipment that you have used outdoor (hiking/trekking). New Zealand South Island 19 days - Flight

Inspired to start a blog documenting my travels after my trip to New Zealand. I Googled alot for information (from immigration to weather to sightseeing) before my trip and thought I should give back to the world wide web with knowledge I now have! Plus, those were some pretty amazing 19 days and I really want to document them. Lets start with some basics that most Singaporeans probably Google about when planning a trip to New Zealand. Flight: we took New Zealand airlines from Singapore to Auckland then to Christchurch. It cost us about $1010 each. Here's what to note about transiting at Auckland. You MUST check out your baggage at Auckland, pass through immigration and the biosecurity check then check it in again for the flight to Christchurch. You will have the boarding passes for both flights when checking in at Singapore so at Auckland you just need to drop your bag off.
